He served Toyotomi Hideyoshi and became the lord of 100,000 goku Iida Castle in Shinano Province in 1599. He later served Tokugawa Ieyasu and was given 120,000 goku of Tango Province for his distinguished service in the Battle of Sekigahara. He was known as an ardent Christian Daimyo. The war banner has black background with white Meyui emblem. The basic form of Meyui emblem is "One eye Meyui," a square with a small square inside and Kyogoku used this form.
