Description of the Flag

Sheraton Lisbon Hotel (for years the city’s tallest building) flies a blue flag with large white emblem centered.
António Martins, 26 June 2006

This flag has been reported both in the US and Portugal.

I recently saw a TV report dealing with one Sheraton hotel in Portugal where the attached flag was visible. It's a white flag with a golden S inside laurel branches (i.e., the Sheraton logo) in the canton. I don't know if this is the way Sheraton flags look like all over the world, but at least it seems to be how they look like in Portugal.

Seven alternating blue and white stripes, with a Uruguay-style white canton bearing the letter S in a wreath in dark crimson, based on a photo at http://www.luxedo.com/images/hotels/SIORD040_1.jpg. In the US, there is usually a field of blue and white stripes (like the US flag, but about seven stripes only) with the logo in the canton.

Sheraton seems to use a wide variety of flags: Here in Bal Harour FL (US) it's blue with a white "S in wreath" logo (centered). In Chicago it was a blue-white striped design with the S in the canton, vaguely reminiscent of Uruguay's design. Perhaps each hotel gets to design its own?

I doubt it's each hotel, as I've seen the striped design (with a dark red logo, I think). Probably they just redesign every few years, more often than hotels run out of their flags, so there's a variety.

The "Uruguay-style" Sheraton flag was used on at least one hotel around Vancouver, so it was not just in the US. I think it's been replaced by the "UN-style" flag.
Dean McGee, 28 June 2006

I think the emblem should be a bit bigger, filling the canton more.

I noticed in Chicago that the Sheraton Hotel flew a flag of blue and white stripes, with a red "S" on white at the upper hoist. But the Sheraton in Bal Harbour, FL, flies a blue flag with a white "S" in a wreath. I inquired of the company (letter below) and this is their reply. Apparently there is no "official" Sheraton flag:
Both the Sheraton Bal Harbour Beach Resort and the Sheraton Chicago Hotel and Towers are part of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide. The flags are just different versions. Thank you for your interest in Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide.
