Presentation of Dubravica

The municipality of Dubravica is located some 20 km northwest of Zagreb. Population is about 5,500, the main vilage of the same name having no more then about 500.
In 1992 when the administrative reform in Croatia wasd made the region was prescribed to be part of the Municipality of Hruševec Kupljenski; however this was against the wish of the local population and such a municipality was never constituted. Rather the Municipality of Dubravica was established already in 1995.

Flag of Dubravica

The symbols of Dubravica are prescribed by Decision Odluka o grbu, zastavi i svešanoj zastavi Općine Dubravica, adopted on 16 June 1998 by the Municipality Assembly.
The current Municipality Statues Statut Općine Dubravica, adopted on 9 July 2009 by the Municipailty Assembly and published in the Municipality official gazette Službeni glasnik Općine Dubravica, No. 7, include the description of the symbols, probably repeating the previous Statutes and the 1998 Decision adopting them.

The symbols were designed by the Heraldic Art d.o.o. company, from Rijeka.

The flag is blue with the coat of arms, bordered yellow, in the middle.

The sundew (in Croatian, rosika, locally, rozga) is a drosera. Genus Drosera is the type of the family Droseraceae. Droseras are small plants which trap insects on their leaves, covered with sticky glandulous hairs, and slowly "digest" them by releasing proteolytic enzymes. Droseras live in marshes and peat bogs, where their dense colonies can form kinds of floating mats. All droseras are endangered and protected.
