Flag of Babina Greda - Image by Željko Heimer, 11 January 2014
The municipality of Babina Greda (3,572 inhabitants in 2011) is located some 40 km south-west of Vukovar, next to rivers Sava and Berava, about 10 km upstream of Županja. Babina Greda is nicknamed "The World's biggest village"; though this is probably hard to maintain, the village is surely the largest rural settlement in Croatia.

The symbols of Babina Greda are prescribed by Decision Odluka o izmjeni i dopuni Odluke o izgledu grba i zastave Općine Babina Greda te načinu i uvijetima uporabe i zaštite grba i zastave Općine Babina Greda, adopted on 11 February 2004 by the Municipality Assembly and published on 4 March 2005 in the County official gazette Službeni vjesnik Vukovarsko-srijemske županije, No. 5.
The flag (photo, photo) is in proportions 1:2, yellow with the coat of arms, bordered red, in the middle. The height of the shield is 3/4 of the flag's width. The size of the red border is 1:86 (of the flag width?).

The coat of arms (image) is "Azure a fess or in the chief a mullet also or and in the base a bar argent".
The star is inscribed in a circle with diameter 1:2.6 (in regard to the shield's height), the top of the star placed 1:17 from the shield top, and as much from the yellow bar ("beam"), the top edge of it passing through the middle of the shield. The width of the yellow beam is 1/4 of the shield's sheight, and, again, the white beam is 1/17 in width, as much distant from the bottom of the yellow beam.
The fess stands for the place name (greda means "a beam"), representing the legendary "beam", the higher non-flooded ground next to the rivers where the place developed. The star is a symbol of god Mars, connecting the coat of arms with the coat of arms of Slavonia, while the white bar symbolizes rivers Sava and Berava.
The gold color of the "beam" symbolizes also the wealth of the place, the golden embroidery traditional here, the golden dukats (gold coins worn as ornament in folklore costumes), wheat fertility and cattle wealth. The star of Mars is also a protection from evil. The blue shield symbolizes wisdom, prudence and nobility.

The coat of arms of the Municipality of Babina Greda is in a shield shape, on a light blue background in the centre of which is a checky field (a part of the Croatian arms representing the Republican identity). Behind the checky field two white horse's heads are issuing, one to the left and the other to the right, symbolizing the love of our people for these animals as well as the traditional cultural-artistic manifestation Konji bijelci... ["White Horses..." - being the initial words of a popular folk song]. In the chief of the shield, between the two horse's heads is the stylized tower of the St. Lawrence church in Babina Greda. In the base of the shield are set two wheat garbs colored golden-yellow, symbolizing the wealth of the region as well as its basic activities for centuries - agriculture.
