Presentation of Lovreć

The municipality of Lovreć (2,500 inhabitants in 2001, 856 in the village of Lovreć) is located 40 km south-east of Split and 20 km north-west of Imotski, in the hinterland region known as Zagora.

Flag of Lovreć

The symbols of Lovreć were adopted in 2008 and approved by the Central State Office for Administration.

The symbols were designed by the Heraldic Art d.o.o. company, from Rijeka.

The flag is in proportions 1:2, white with the coat of arms, bordered yellow, in the middle.

The coat of arms is "Gules a winter savory plant or with seven (1:3:2:1) pairs of flowers".
Winter savory (a.k.a Russian tea, bean herb), Satureja montana L. (synonym, S. illyrica Nyman), Family Lamiaceae, is called in Croatian vrijesak, or, locally, vrisak.

The ceremonial flag (photo, no longer online) is a pale yellow gonfalon with the coat of arms in the middle, the name of the municipality above and green branches below: the left one seems to be olive, the right one is not visible on the photo. Also the fly end of the flag is not visible.

The first, unofficial modern flag of Lovreć was a vertical red flag with the coat of arms, bordered white, in the middle.
The coat of arms, equally unofficial, is "Gules a winter savory branch proper in bend and on a ribbon argent in the base the name of the municipality sable".
