Presentation of Perama

The municipality of Perama (25,389 inhabitants in 2011, 1,473 ha) is a port town and suburbs of Piraeus, on the southwestern edge of the Aegaleo mountains, on the Saronic Gulf coast. It forms the western terminus of the Port of Piraeus and there is also a passenger port that provides ferry services to Salamis Island. The name Perama comes from the Greek word "perasma" which means "passage".
The municipality was not changed with the 2011 local government reform.
