Introduction

The 1996 Warner Bros movie Mars Attacks! was directed by Tim Burton. The movie is based upon a 1960s trading cards collection made by Topps Company about a Martian invasion. In the movie, the Martians try to invade Earth.

Near the end of the movie, the Martians attack the place where the president of the U.S. (played by actor Jack Nicholson) is located with all the military leaders. When the Martians go inside the president gives an aparently convincing speech about making peace between Earth and "little people" from Mars. A tear appears in the eye of the Martian leader. And then the president and the Martian leader shake hands. But the hand of the Martian turns to be a kind of spider-robot that kills the president and then it raises a little Mars flag:

The flag is green with a black circle. The circle has inside a red triangle and a little white circle above the triangle. Nothing is said about the possible meaning of the colors. But just for fun we could guess that green could stand for the "little green men" (the Martians). And red could stand for planet Mars.

The flag seems to be a parody of the reverse of the US seal as seen on the US one-dollar bill.
