The municipality of Villanueva de Carazo (35 inhabitants in 2009; 1,200 ha) is located in the southeast of the Province of Burgos, 50 km of Burgos.

Symbols of Villanueva de Carazo

The flag and arms of Villanueva de Carazo are prescribed by a Decree adopted on 28 August 2005 by the Municipal Council, signed on 2 September 2005 by the Mayor, and published on 29 September 2005 in the official gazette of Castilla y León, No. 189, pp. 16,607-16,608 (text).
The symbols are described as follows:

Flag: Quadrangular, whose colors shall be red and white, displayed in vertical stripes, the first, red, of 0.30 and the second, white, of 0.70, in the middle the municipal coat of arms.
Coat of arms: Per pale, 1. Arms of Castile - gules a castle or, 2. Azure a rock argent masoned sable in base two sickles ensigned with a yoke all sable, in chief an eight-pointed star argent recalling the San Bartolomé monastery. The shield surmounted with a Royal crown closed.
