Symbols of Bayarque

The flag of Bayarque, adopted on 9 March 2011 by the Municipal Council, is prescribed by a Decree adopted on 23 March 2011 by the Directorate General of the Local Administration and published on 7 April 2011 in the official gazette of Andalusia, No. 69, p. 19 (text). The flag is described as follows:

Flag: Rectangular panel, in proportions 3:2 (length to width), divided into three horizontal stripes of equal heigt, the upper and the lower stripes blue, the central stripe itself divided into three equal stripes, yellow, white and yellow. In the middle of the flag is placed the municipal coat of arms.

The flag was first adopted on 12 May 2001 by the Municipal Council, as published on 24 February 2003 in the official gazette of Andalusia, No. 37, p. 4,111 (text). The flag was adopted, again, on 12 May 2004 by the Municipal Council, as published on 25 January 2005 in the official gazette of Andalusia, No. 16, p. 83 (text). The registration process of the flag was initiated on 15 November 2010 by the Municipal Council, as published on 7 January 2011 in the official gazette of Andalusia, No. 4, p. 90 (text).

The coat of arms of Bayarque, adopted on 9 March 1996 by the Municipal Council, is prescribed by Decree No. 179, adopted on 7 May 1996 by the Government of Andalusia and published on 4 July 1996 in the official gazette of Andalusia, No. 76, p. 7,259 (text). This was confirmed by a Decree adopted on 30 November 2004 by the Government of Andalusia and published on 20 December 2004 in the official gazette of Andalusia, No. 246, pp. 28,986-29,002 (text).
The coat of arms, validated by the Royal Academy of History and by the Royal Academy of Cordóba, is described as follows:

Coat of arms: Azure two mounds or on waves argent and azure ensigned by a reverted crescent argent. The shield surmounted by a Royal crown closed.

The mounds recall that Bayarque is surrounded by high mountains. The waves represent the great quantity of water provided by river Bacares. The crescent recalls the Muslim influence.
