Overview

The parish of Guaytacama (3,700 ha), part of Latacunga canton (Cotopaxi province), is located 15 km north of Latacunga. The parish was established on 29 May 1861, together with Latacunga canton. Guaytacama is named for a Kishwa word meaning "guardian / curator of defoliated flowers".
