It is a blue over yellow over green horizontal tricolour. In the centre of the flag is the local coat of arms.

Coat of arms

The shield is divided per fess by a golden(=yellow) barrulet. Above in a blue filed is a silver (=white) sailing ship having a blue capital "P" upon the main sail. Below is a golden(=yellow) blossom of rape (Latin: Brassica rapus) in a green field.
Meaning:
The small sailing ship is the type, which had been used by the local fishermen, a so called Zeesenboot. Rapeseed was cultivated scientifically on the island since 1897. Rape is the base for canola, an oliseed. It is used for forage crop, edible oil and (unfortunately) for the production of fuel. According to its importance every year on a festival in May a "queen of rapeseed" is chosen by the locals. The meaning of the colour of stripes is speculative. Blue might be the colour of the sea, green the colour of the fields and yellow may be the colour of rape or of sandy beaches.
According to Stefan Schwoon the flag was introduced by the municipality in 1998.
