Adelsheim Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
In a silver (= white) shield is a black horn of an ibex.
Meaning:
Although the town was mentioned as a city in 1347, the city rights were granted later in 1374 by Emperor Karl IV on demand of the market town. Adelsheim had been a member of the Franconian Imperial Knightage (Fränkische Reichsritterschaft) and belonged to the Odenwald Canton. The horn was part of the arms of the Knights of Adelsheim. The city has always used the horn in its arms, although the shape of the horn has changed several times. The current version was based on the municipal seal of the 20th century.

Banner and coat of arms were approved on 16 August 1976 by the county administration, published in GABl 312/1977.
