Description of banner:
The ratio of the banner is 5:2. It is a yellow-white-red tricolour superimposed with the coat of arms.
Description of coat of arms: The shield shows a red sky upon a yellow hill. The hill is superimposed by a red rose. In the sky there is a white sailplane, facing the hoist (of the flag, not the banner).
Meaning: The rose and the colours yellow and red mark the affiliation to the Principality of Lippe. The sailplanes airport is the main attraction of the municipality.

Horizontal Flag

[Oerlinghausen horizontal flag] 3:5 image by Klaus-Michael Schneider, 7 Jun 2007

It is a yellow over white over red horizontal tricolour with the coat of arms shifted to the hoist. The flags ratio is 3:5.
(note: there is an image in Stefan Schwoon's database based on the sheets of the manufacturer "Weserflaggen", I chose the same colours like that of the hanging flag, for I know, that those colours are used and I don't believe in different colours of flag and hanging flag; the coat of arms I have already described together with the hanging flag)

Plain horizontal Flag

[Oerlinghausen plain flag] 3:5 image by Klaus-Michael Schneider, 15 Jun 2007

It is a horizontal yellow over white over red tricolour. The ratio of flag is 3:5. Probably the flags without coat of arms were valid in times, the city belonged to Lemgo county, which is today part of Lippe county.

Plain Banner

Flag adopted ?

There is a simplified version of the banner without coat of arms. I spotted it in front of the Niklas-Luhmann-Gymnasium (school) on 25 May 2006.
You can see the flag of Oerlinghausen on Stefan Schwoon's database, the red colour there is however too dark and a bit brownish.
