Coat of Arms

Shield Argent, an eradicated linden Sable leaved 39-times Vert, over all a brick wall Gules masoned Argent, the bricks ordered 4:7.
Meaning:
The brick wall is symbolising the city rights, gained in 1359 from Emperor Karl IV. The city was however never fortified. The linden tree is symbolising the former court in the village, as well as the mighty linden tree, which was standing on the local market square until 1814. The city rights were regained in 1866, when the city was ceded from Bavaria to Prussia.
The arms were already designed in 1866, but approved in 1950.
