Description of banner:
It is a black - yellow - black vertical triband with ratio 1:4:1. The coat of arms without shield is in the yellow stripe and slightly shifted to the top.

Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
In a golden (= yellow) field is a black, rampant lion, armed and tongued red. The lion is superimposed by a red label with four flaps.
Meaning:
According to source the arms are those of the counts of Blankenheim. These arms appear already on the first seal from 1380. The shield is held by St. Margartha and St. George. The arms remained more or less the same since the 14th century.

The coat of arms were approved to Blankenheim subcounty (Amt) in 1935 and to the municipality in 1971.
