Description

Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania.
Established Hobart in 1880 as the Derwent Sailing Boat Club.
Became Derwent Sailing Club in 1884, then Derwent Yacht Club in 1899, and Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania circa 1908. The club website says that this happened in 1908 when “... a Royal Warrant was granted..”, but my information is that a warrant for a plain Blue Ensign is dated 10 January 1910, and the title ‘royal’ granted 24 January 1910. The website does say that the current burgee was designed in 1910. It is white with a crown in the centre of a cross, the vertical arm of which is red, and horizontal arm blue.
