Lienz is one of the rare municipalities in Tirol having a three-striped municipal flag (the other ones are Wörgl and Wattens).  The flag is used as a hanging flag, and shows three stripes of blue-white-red; the coat-of-arms is in the center, slightly offcentered to the top.
The arms are derived from symbols of the Counts of Görz, combined with the rose that Lienz used as arms in the 15th to 17th century.
