Coat of Arms

Shield Azure semy of (natural) roses Argent, base wavy of Vert and Argent, issuant from chief a rosary Or.
Meaning:
The meaning of the commune is "garden of the sea". Base wavy and roses together are canting, as the green colour in base is a representation of the sea (Port: mar) and the roses are representing a garden (Port.: jardim). The rosary and the roses are also attributes of Our Lady of the Rosary, the local patron saint.
